Your Herts and Beds Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 81)

We gave guests wildflower seeds as favours so they could take them away to plant. We loved the idea that it would be leaving a lasting and beneficial memento of the wedding. We’d been looking for somewhere rustic with a relaxed feel, and when we saw Milling Barn online, it looked perfect. When we went to look around, we fell in love with the barn. The exposed beams and spacious feel was exactly what we were looking for. The accommodation and dressing room had just been renovated, which not only looked stunning but really added to the venue. It was great to find a location where we could have both the ceremony and reception in the same place that also had accommodation for our close friends and family. We wanted to make sure we stuck to planning the wedding we really wanted and to not get swept up into the stress. There can be so many external pressure but we wanted to plan a day that we would love and remember forever. I found my dress very quickly, it immediately stood out to me and although I tried on others, they didn’t compare. I loved the lace detailing, particularly at the back where it framed the opening. The style fitted in with the simple and grounded feel of the wedding but had the added lace detail to make it feel and look special. We used two long tables off the head table to seat our guests – this way everyone was brought together and it added to the intimate feel. 48
