Your Herts and Beds Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 81)

SETTING THE SCENE The Barn at Alswick was the ideal big-day venue for the couple due to its intimate feel, Cherelle adds, “I loved how small it was and the style, the people that worked there were also very helpful. Overall I had very good vibes as soon as I walked in, we knew it was the one.” To bring both of their personalities into the wedding styling they opted for Krispy Kreme favours for the guests – Steven’s favourite – and had a sweet corner for gussets to indulge in during the evening. Further decorative touches included a table plan designed to match the centrepieces, place names and invitations, photos of the couple, candles and lanterns dotted around the venue and the flowers were gorgeous displays used at both the ceremony and reception. LOOKING THE PART The bride wore a stunning Vera Wang gown, which she chose due to its showstopping style. “I wanted the biggest dress I could have,” adds Cherelle. “The aisle had to be measured! The dress was the same width as I am in height!” Cherelle accessorised her look with a veil, tiara and three petticoats were added underneath to make sure it was even bigger. Steven looked dapper in a Prince of Wales three-piece suit, top hat and a bow tie. He adds, “My bestmen, ushers and fathers-of- the-bride and -groom also wore three-piece dark grey suits with Prince of Wales coordinating accessories. In keeping with the colour scheme the bridesmaids were dressed in matching grey gowns – also with added petticoats for extra volume – and accessorised with complementing grey shoes. 36
