Your Herts and Beds Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 80)

Our centrepieces had flowers that matched the bouquet and was placed in copper bowl-shaped vases that sat on top of wooden logs. We also had small copper lanterns with tealights in on each table to add to the ambience. We got married in Offley Place Country House Hotel in the new Hester Ballroom, which was simply stunning. We chose it because we wanted to get married in Hertfordshire, where we had both grown up, and somewhere with beautiful green space in the countryside. We had a homemade table plan, which we made from a large wooden frame. We attached some flowers and foliage around the frame to add to our theme – we were pleased with the result. Our flowers followed our rustic elegance vision, with cream and blush pink roses, lots of eucalyptus foliage and some other flowers such as thistles and astilbe. We didn’t have a florist as Chris’ mum’s best friend very kindly arranged all of our flowers for us and did a fabulous job! We love cheese, so it was only natural for us to have a wedding cake made of it! It was five tiers of different options served with crackers plus grapes and decorated with some flowers and Mr and Mrs bunting. For our place names, we used mini blackboards to tie in with us both being teachers. Each name was lovingly written by hand onto the blackboards and many of our guests took them home – we still spot them on friends’ shelves when we go to their houses. 44
