Beauty Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best SOS W hile couples, of course, want to look their ultimate big-day best, inevitably worries will no doubt surface during the planning process. Fear not, our local experts are here to help alleviate those concerns! BIG-DAY BEAUTIFUL Q: I have oily skin and I’m worried my make-up might start sliding and separating throughout the day. What tips can you give me to get around this? A good make-up artist will know how to deal with oily skin and what products to use, I too struggle with oily skin and can give you the wealth of my knowledge. Great skincare is a must. Try not to use products that strip the skin of oil – all this will do is make your already oily skin panic and produce even more oil. A gentle cleanse and toner will suffice – I adore the Elemis superfood range – followed with a light-weight moisturiser. I then recommend Illamasqua Matte Veil Primer. Foundations that are great for oily skin types include MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, Esteè Lauder Doublewear and Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Foundation, which is my personal favourite as it has buildable coverage and is demi- matte. It doesn’t look too flat on the skin. Setting your foundation with a powder is an absolute must for oily girls. I love the Translucent Loose Setting Powder by Laura Mercier – apply with a fluffy brush or evenly pat onto super shiny areas with a powder puff. The final step to make-up longevity is a setting spray, Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray is an amazing product which is specifically aimed at us oily skinned ladies. My top tip is to pack blotting papers to press against the skin as these absorb oil on contact and reduce shine. Two big trends are coming onto the wedding scene and both will ensure the wow factor from both your guests and your new spouse! The first huge trend is ponytails. High or low, a ponytail will make you stand out and ensure your wedding day look is a stunning one. You can opt for a sleek posh pony for an elegant and classy look – think high-shine and polished. For more of a relaxed vibe, a voluminous, wavy pony with lots of texture looks stunning finished with some fresh flowers. The tousled and laid-back style is perfect for an outdoor boho-themed day. The second trend we are seeing lots of this year is the absolute classic Hollywood wave. This style has been a favourite with brides and red-carpet guests alike for years but this year the trend has come alive. Whether you choose the classic wave, which is sleek and glossy, or a more modern version that is softer and fuller – this style will always look flawless on anyone! Another huge trend in hair this year are pearls, add a pearl accessory to take your style to the next level!
