Your East Midlands Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 38)

The warmth and atmosphere of the building at The West Mill blew us away. There was so much history and it’s perfectly positioned next to the River Derwent. I wanted a wild feel for my flowers, we liked the idea of transitional colours from summer into autumn as it was September, so we went for raspberry pink, deep red, burgundy, coral and touches of blue. We loved the venue’s features with old metal beams, lighting, oil spill ceiling and upcycled metalwork. We choose long trestle tables so we could sit within our family and friends, rather than a top table. We named our tables after our favourite beaches in the UK such as Watergate Bay, Holkham, Woolacombe and Barafundle Bay. For centrepieces, we had hessian runners decorated with eucalyptus garlands and copper tins full of flowers and tea light jars dotted within the foliage. 40
