It took a couple of years for Matt to win Chrissi round, but the wait was worth it in the end. Their first date took place at the cinema watching Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull before talking the night away in Wetherspoons until closing time. Chrissi says, “A few months into our relationship I moved to Leicester for University, so our first three years were long distance, but we made it work and supported one another’s career paths. Matt took the plunge to leave Telford five years in so we could move in together to set up a life in Leicestershire and we haven’t looked back since!” Matt proposed on Chrissi’s 25 th birthday at The Nimb restaurant in Tivoli Gardens. She recalls the moment saying, “The plan was to go around the amusements and see the gardens all lit up at night, rounded off with dinner, but the sleet was getting worse and worse, so Matt ended up proposing much earlier in the evening than planned so we could at least get inside the restaurant to warm up.” She adds: “The food was incredible and watching the snowfall from the warmth and twinkly lights of the restaurant made the evening much more romantic. To think I nearly had a paddy and was going to suggest staying in rather than go out in a blizzard – it was certainly a night to remember!’ Here Chrissi shares the details of their special day… 39 REAL WEDDING
