Your East Midlands Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 38)

We viewed so many venues and none of them gave me the feeling I got when I first visited Hodsock Priory. It’s a grand historic family house which is beautifully decorated, and the grounds are amazing. The wedding planners were brilliant and made us feel really welcome. I made the table plan myself from a large white mirror and photo frames. For favours we chose miniature jars filled with an alcoholic shot. The place names I chose were simple white hearts that hooked over the wine glasses, my Aunty has beautiful handwriting and she wrote them all out for me. My bridesmaid flowers were bunches of gypsophila each tied with a ribbon to match their dress colour and my bouquet was dusky pink roses with thistles and eucalyptus. The bridesmaids all wore floor-length dresses that were sequinned at the top and had tulle skirts. Each bridesmaid wore a different colour, but they all worked perfectly together. The cake was one of my favourite touches on the day – one side was plain with diamanté and floral decoration sweeping down the cake. The other side was Harry Potter -themed with castles and a framed image of a stag in the woods – it was set on a rotating stand so the guests could see both sides. 34
