Your East Midlands Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 32)

Create a seasonal spectacular with our stellar advice HOT TOPIC: SUMMER LOVIN’ Festival fun I love the idea of a festival wedding and can’t wait to get creative with the theme. How can I bring this to life through my stationery? Lorna says: There are tonnes of brilliant ways to incorporate your theme, starting with your save-the-dates and invites. Perhaps they could be in the style of an event ticket or incorporate a bright, rainbow colour scheme to capture the essence of festivals. Your invitation suite could be held together with a bellyband, which doubles up as paper entry wristband. The theme can then carry through to your on-the-day stationery such as a table plan in the style of a gig line-up poster with your tables as the stage names. You could even have your place settings clipped onto lanyards so guests can wear them during and after dinner, which is super helpful if your guests don’t all know each other! If ticket-style invites and poster signage isn’t really your thing, you can always try something subtler. Incorporating sunflowers, daisies, wellies or vibrant colours can help add a touch of festival fun. BIG-DAY SHOOT Tying the knot in summer lends itself to endless photo opportunities but we don’t want to be away from our guests for too long. What are the must-have shots? Nick says: I prefer natural rather than staged photography where possible so this helps with time. My favourites include a sunset shot with a silhouette of the bride and groom as the sun goes down or a romantic kiss by a reflective body of water. If the venue’s landscape allows, a walk amongst trees with the light shining through the branches looks great and I’ve even had fun with the happy couple racing away on space hoppers! I’m always conscious of timings so I give couples a quick rundown of any shots I feel would be worth their time out from the partying guests before the day.
