Your East Midlands Wedding - Apr/May (Issue 31)

76 LUSH SURROUNDINGS Ruby’s passionate about event styling and the design work that goes into a wedding, so she had lots of fun sourcing the original 1970s crockery, glassware and table linen. “It was important to me to use as many original items as possible to give it an authentic feel.” For the floral design, free-flowing organic forms were created using lush greenery with proteas, bamboo and pampas grass. “I like the structures and the sculptural forms that I can create with them,” says Ruby. Fresh laurel leaves were used for the name place settings and the colour palette of green, burnt orange and brown were incorporated into the table plan with coloured thread. The stationery was funky and bespoke while a semi-naked cake decorated with fresh greenery as well as a more traditionally-designed bake both suited the surroundings perfectly. “This image captures the sunlight streaming through the stems of pampas grass and bamboo and landing on the table centrepiece beautifully. The images are all fresh, light and vibrant – perfect!”
