Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 30)

REAL WEDDINGS 39 SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose Trebah Gardens as the beautiful backdrop for their wedding after visiting every venue in Falmouth. “We fell in love with it straight away and knew it was the one,” Nicole says. “We both adored the stunning views stretching across the sub-tropical gardens down to the private beach and the fact that none of our guests had attended a wedding there before. We were blessed with glorious weather on the day which was the icing on the cake.” The couple decided on a natural theme to reflect the picturesque grounds at the venue with touches of baby pink. "Our pretty flowers were hand-picked from the gardens and included soft pink varieties," Nicole tells us. "We gave our guests packets of wildflower seeds as favours along with miniature bottles of pink prosecco and pink hand sanitiser as a nod to having to rearrange our wedding due to the pandemic! The intimate ceremony room was decorated in a neutral, contemporary style so we simply added some clear balloons filled with gypsophila to finish the venue decor." The couple opted for a grazing table plus a sweetie ladder for guests to help themselves, followed by a delicious wedding cake presented on two log slices on a wooden crate and finished with flowers. “We decorated the grazing table with hessian runners and the food was presented on slate boards with natural leaf pressed plates and bamboo cutlery for an eco outdoor vibe,” Nicole describes. “We decided on having a grazing table because they look great and offer the same concept as a more traditional buffet. The menu included rustic artisan rolls, a selection of meats and antipasti, tropical fruits, pretzels, fudge, nuts and a Cornish cheese tower because I am a cheese-lover! The Cheese Shed, who supplied it, allows you to select the varieties that you want, and the size, so it's perfect for an intimate wedding.” N icole and Kyle met at work. “It was Kyle’s dance moves that attracted me to him!” Nicole tells us. “After clearing a dancefloor in a local club, we found ourselves throwing shapes in sync! We have a similar silly sense of humour and just bounced off one another.” The couple became engaged on their fourth anniversary during a holiday to Mexico. "Kyle had secretly planned the proposal after seeking my parents' approval," Nicole tells us. "He hid the engagement ring in his hand luggage but got stopped at border control both in the UK and Mexico so was worried that I might see it but luckily he managed to keep it under wraps!" “I arrived at our wedding in my much-loved Subaru Impreza decorated with wedding ribbons.” — Kyle “We were both nervous after having to reschedule our wedding once due to the pandemic so were worried that we wouldn’t get the day that we had originally wanted. But we ended up having a better time than we could ever have imagined.” —Nicole 
