BITTON HOUSE, TEIGNMOUTH This Grade II listed period property set in the beautiful Bitton Park showcases impressive bay windows, manicured flower beds and an outdoor veranda. It offers a choice of function rooms all located on the ground floor for easy access, and there’s ample parking available. Located in the grounds of Bitton Park is a historic Orangery managed by the Friends of Teignmouth Orangery. For a donation, the volunteers will open it, providing a wonderful setting for big-day photographs. Another not-to-be-missed photo opportunity is by the two cannons positioned at the front of the house. Ceremonies take place in a variety of areas. The Pellew Suite is two adjoining rooms that can be used separately or together. It’s located next to the veranda overlooking the orangery holding up to 70 guests (when restrictions lift). A more intimate gathering of up to 36 loved ones can take place in the Mayor’s Parlour located at the front of the house, and the Orangery, brimming with exotic plants, can hold up to eight people. The wedding breakfast and reception take place for up to 70 loved ones in the Pellew Suite that boasts a dancefloor and couples can hire an outside caterer, mobile bar and band. BICKLEIGH CASTLE, TIVERTON This English historical landmark situated next to the River Exe combines a tranquil setting with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. Both the castle and grounds provide an Insta-worthy backdrop and couples and their guests can stay for an entire weekend, perfect for micro weddings. The charming thatched cottages dotted around the pretty courtyard provide cosy guest accommodation and the elegant bridal suite, a charming Tudor room with a four-poster bed, is located inside the castle itself. Ceremonies for smaller weddings and larger affairs (when restrictions lift) take place in a variety of places including in the Saxon chapel (with standing space for loved ones to gather in the gallery on the mezzanine level above) and outside on the lawn under the gazebo, ideal for summer soirees. The Great Hall is also licensed for ceremonies and is a grand option for dinner while the barn-inspired Wedding Breakfast Room is another fantastic choice, with its tall vaulted beams and five-star menus. MANOR HOTEL, EXMOUTH Situated on a hill in the centre of Exmouth overlooking the bay and close to the seafront and town centre is this 300-year-old historic building, originally a coaching inn, with a quirky layout and charming original features including sash windows. The crisp white façade is decorated with flower baskets offering a photographic backdrop and the well-kept interior is home to a selection of twin and single rooms, large and small doubles and family rooms, each one unique in size and shape and many enjoying sea or estuary views. Whilst the venue doesn’t hold a ceremony licence, receptions take place in the stylish function room complete with a dancefloor, bar and washroom facilities. It seats up to 70 guests for dinner and up to 100 partygoers during the evening (when restrictions lift) and exclusive-use is available (with discounts on rooms available.) The hotel has collaborated with Barbecue Thirteen to unveil a new coal cooking dining experience (when restrictions open.) New chef Darren and his team will be showcasing fresh menus with mouth-watering dishes including scallops served with apple, celeriac and sea herbs, tequila chicken served with parmesan and truffle chips and mussels with clam sauce.
