Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 28)

I was so lucky to be able to accessorise my dress with items that loved ones had lent to me. My sister let me wear the beautiful pearl headpiece that she had worn on her special day which was my something borrowed and my best friend Mel lent me her sapphire ring which was my very special something blue. Lee’s mum makes the best cakes so it was inevitable that we asked her to create our beautiful three-tier design featuring a cute ‘just married’ sign. Our flowers were created by the talented Gemma at Weddings at Poppys of Exeter. She made the most beautiful buttonholes and bouquets - I didn’t want to put mine down! I had spotted some white drapes that were used to create an arch in the ballroom on Gemma’s Instagram and knew I had to have them at our wedding. They were elegant yet simple and created a beautiful backdrop for our photographs. We had lanterns lining the aisle in the ceremony room. It didn’t feel like the venue needed that much decorating because it was already so beautiful and exactly what we wanted. “Lee and I picked the best wedding suppliers who all went above and beyond to make everything extra special for us. They listened to our ideas and helped to create our dream day – and lent a helping hand when needed!” – Sophie “Caricaturist Kevin Rye entertained our guests between our ceremony and wedding breakfast and he was a real hit! He went the extra mile to accommodate everybody and spent much longer there than he originally intended to! It was a great talking point during dinner and gave everyone a special keepsake to take home.” – Sophie and Lee REAL WEDDINGS 41 
