Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 28)

Our centrepieces were Moroccan lanterns chosen to incorporate our Middle Eastern backgrounds. They were surrounded by eucalyptus and fairylights which looked so romantic. The suite in which our ceremony was held was so beautiful and there was just so much happiness in the room. The catering provided by the team at Deer Park was delicious. Our evening food was a Moroccan Mezze that our guests loved! R ana and Mo met through a dating app. “It was one of my bridesmaids who initiated the conversation because neither of us dared to start chatting,” Rana tells us. “We soon realised that we had so much in common, from both of us coming from mixed backgrounds (Mo is half- Moroccan and I am half-Egyptian) to our joint love of gymnastics - one of our first dates was to a trampoline park!” The couple had discussed marriage and looked at engagement rings together so Rana knew that a proposal would happen but when Mo asked her to marry him, it took her by surprise. “He had asked my dad for permission which was very important to me,” Rana tells us. “He had the entire proposal planned with my family on a weekend trip to Devon. We all visited a park together and Mo asked if I wanted to go for a walk down to Thatcher Rock, my favourite place, just us two. It was here that he got down on one knee and asked me.” The couple looked at quite a few venues but Deer Park ticked all the boxes. “From our first visit, wedding coordinator Kate was so welcoming and we were instantly sold,” Rana explains. “We loved the stunning scenery, elegant interior and the mouth-watering menu choices. Here, she tells us all about their autumn wedding. Deer Park offered us the flexibility to create our dream day and looked so romantic styled with plenty of fairylights. We loved the fact that we could make a weekend of it because it offered ample on-site accommodation for our guests. 34
