Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 27)

Our order of the day signage looked great against the backdrop of hydrangeas. Nancarrow Farm was the only venue that we considered to host our special day at. We were shown around on a rainy Saturday afternoon in January and loved it instantly, even then it looked beautiful. The barns have their own natural beauty and don’t need much styling. We wanted a barn wedding with a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views. Nancarrow Farm was perfect for this and had a homely feel to the accommodation for our closest friends and family to spend three days with us. It was very important for us to feel that the day wouldn’t be over quickly and to allow us to enjoy the experience with all of our nearest and dearest. H olly and Chris met on a night out with friends in Truro in 2012. “We laughed throughout our conversation and continue to do so to this day,” Holly tells us. The couple became engaged on their fifth anniversary. “Chris got up early and told me that I wasn’t allowed downstairs until he called me,” Holly explains. “At this point, he left the house for a couple of hours. When he finally called me downstairs, I found him holding a 12-week- old cockapoo puppy! After bursting into (happy) tears, I noticed a silver charm on the ribbon that read ‘Say Yes 10.12.17’ and Chris then presented me with the most beautiful ring. Both were a complete surprise! Our engagement wasn’t spoken about for a few weeks though as we were trying to entertain Archie, our excitable puppy!” Here, Holly tells us about their rustic-inspired barn wedding decorated with navy and copper details. We added some homemade tassel bunting, copper hoops displaying polaroid photographs, rustic wooden crates that presented photos of loved ones, giant illuminated LOVE letters, and a curtain of fairlylights draped from the oak beams inside the barn. 34
