Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 26)

Our centrepieces were loose flowers that we bought from our florist which my mum and our friend, Chloe, arranged adding a personal touch. We wanted something natural and not too styled with lots of eucalyptus and greenery. We opted for hand- sprayed gold table numbers made by my mum and Adam made the place name holders by hand from wood while I learnt calligraphy to write our guest’s names. Adam stood out from his groomsmen by wearing a waistcoat while they wore the same suits and accessories as him. Deer Park was the first venue that we visited and it just blew us both away. We loved the idea of having an exclusive-use venue and the fact that they were able to provide the catering and plenty of on-site accommodation for our guests was a huge bonus. The choice of elegant rooms and outside spaces available for weddings reassured us that whatever we wanted, and whatever the weather, the big day would be fantastic. Adam loves gardening so we made our favours by placing wildflower seeds in small bags sealed with personalised stickers. For the little ones, we provided activity packs containing colouring books, stickers and bubbles. L auren and Adam met at the University of Exeter, initially bonding during a trip to the beach. “We became friends for a few years before evolving into a couple,” Lauren tells us. They became engaged during a trip to Berlin. “It was a cold day and even though I was expecting Adam to propose, I was still happily surprised and burst into tears!” Lauren says. “Adam had wanted to ask me to marry him on an earlier holiday to Lisbon but my ring didn’t arrive in time, so he had to come up with a different plan!” Here, Lauren tells us about their pretty floral and botanical-themed day to reflect the couple’s love of the great outdoors. Every detail was designed to tie in with our theme and be personal to us as a couple. I designed the table plan based on a template that we’d found online. It incorporated the botanical feel that we’d chosen and looked great displayed on a gold easel that was already at the venue. REAL WEDDINGS 29 
