 Beautiful wedding venues in this picturesque part of the region The wonders of WEST DEVON THE HORN OF PLENTY, NR TAVISTOCK This stylish hotel set in five acres of landscaped grounds is located on the Devon and Cornwall border, just outside the market town of Tavistock, overlooking the picturesque Tamar Valley. On a clear day, views stretch across to Bodmin Moor which is 40 miles away and on balmy evenings, watching the sunset across the valley is not to be missed. The main house was built in the 1860s and has constantly evolved, with this year seeing a major refurbishment of all the public rooms. There are tall ceilings, large bay windows and real fireplaces and the restaurant now features wall-to-ceiling sliding doors leading on to the decked terrace that overlooks the valley boasting some of the best non-coastal views in Devon. Outdoor ceremonies can take place against the backdrop of this view, with the large lawn in front of the restaurant an ideal spot for a marquee reception. Guests can enjoy drinks in the walled garden framed by pretty flowers, and garden games. There’s also a pond, a wild orchard filled with bluebells during the spring, and pretty walkways perfect for big-day photographs. Autumnal weddings can enjoy the large Acer (maple) tree positioned just outside the restaurant that turns seasonal shades of orange and red. Inside, ceremonies take place in the lounge for up to 92 guests, or in the restaurant for up to 47 loved ones. The newly refurbished Drawing Room boasting a Moroccan theme is ideal for a smaller gathering of 30 people and an intimate group of up to 25 loved ones can fill the library, a lovely place for an elopement wedding. The wedding breakfast takes place in the award- winning restaurant with guests mingling in the newly decorated bar area afterwards. Ceremony licence?
