Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 75)

PRISTON MILL 01225 423 894 | pristonmill.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? With two picturesque venues on site, guests approach Priston Mill past the herb garden and farmhouse on the left and the water wheel to the right. Just six miles from Bath, it’s surrounded by green fields and a flowing brook. The Watermill covers three floors and stands proud in the centre of stunning gardens beside the mill pond. Blue shutters and climbing roses evoke a French feel, while The Tythe Barn is nestled in serene English country gardens. The interiors are full of rustic charm, with original features and mechanical workings on show. Soft lighting and cosy furniture complement exposed stone and brick. LET’S CELEBRATE! When the sun is shining, the Pergoda is a wonderful outdoor ceremony option. Indoor ceremonies and receptions are held in The Watermill (90 guests), with its tall beams and Juliet balcony, or the Tythe Barn (150 guests) for bigger gatherings. Although built in the 1720s, it has everything a modern wedding could need. WE LOVE… Guests can marvel at the mechanics of the impressive water wheel from a glass floor. ROMAN BATHS & PUMP ROOM 01225 477 786 | bathvenues.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? Situated in the heart of Bath’s World Heritage Site, the Roman Baths & Pump Room is one of the most distinctive buildings in the country. The award-winning complex is steeped in history, with its origins dating back 2,000 years. Forming part of the museum by day, the Great Bath has been meticulously renovated. It’s here at sunrise and sunset that ceremonies take place, overlooked by the beautiful Bath Abbey. Although it’s open-air, vows can still take place in adverse weather conditions, as shelter is provided by the terrace above. LET’S CELEBRATE! Perfect for smaller and less formal celebrations, sunrise ceremonies take place at 8.30am and can be followed by a champagne breakfast for up to 60 guests – or 40 on a Saturday. Sunset vows (160 guests) are taken at 7.30pm – excluding mid-June to August – followed by drinks around the bath. In colder weather, the steam from the baths, coupled with flickering torchlight, creates a magical atmosphere. The adjoining Pump Room is the ideal party space. Famously frequented by Jane Austen, the elegant room has tall windows, Corinthian columns and a glittering chandelier. Also part of the complex, the Terrace overlooking the Great Bath is an intimate area for events, along with the Reception Hall. WE LOVE… Exclusive-use packages are available for up to 290 friends and family. Nearlyweds will be treated to a free menu tasting with the venue’s caterer, Searcys (searcys.co.uk ). ryangooldphotography.co.uk ryangooldphotography.co.uk amysanders.co.uk James Davies Photography 24
