Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 75)

Wed in a waterside setting REFLECTIONS of love GANTS MILL 07854 166 624 | gantsmill.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? Nestled in a secluded position in the valley of the River Brue, Gants Mill is home to waterfalls, streams and picturesque gardens, as well as a 1,000-year-old working watermill. Couples benefit from exclusive use of the secluded 50-acre river valley. Its idyllic floral gardens provide a burst of colour throughout its April-to-October wedding season, and parties have access to the mill, with a guided tour for guests included as part of the day. LET’S CELEBRATE! Ceremonies are normally held in the oak Gazebo (150 guests) in the floral gardens, but the Garden Room is also licensed for nuptials should the weather be bad. After the formalities, receptions take place in the traditional, furnished marquee, with everything needed to throw a party – from lighting and heaters to a PA and bar. WE LOVE… The venue is very flexible, with couples being able to bring in their own caterers and alcohol with no corkage fee applied. There’s also a bridal suite included in every booking. THE LONGHOUSE 01749 812 307 | longhouseweddings.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? As the name suggests, The Longhouse is a long venue with beautifully large windows and French doors opening out onto a balcony overlooking the River Brue. The blank- canvas space offers simple white interiors with accents of soft sage green and wooden floors. Although the space is large, it retains a warm and welcoming ambience, with a log burner available for use in winter. Softly clad in silver larch and set high in the landscape, it gives the feeling of floating among the trees, looking out across the picturesque valley and abundant gardens. LET’S CELEBRATE! There are three gorgeous places in which to tie the knot among up to 140 friends and family. The Gazebo is a handmade oak structure set in the gardens at the base of the venue’s vineyard. The Longhouse gives the feeling of bringing the outside in with its spectacular vistas. For a more intimate ceremony, The Wine Cellar is situated in the oldest part of the farmhouse and provides a deeply romantic feel through its stone walls and vaulted ceiling. When it comes to post-vow partying, couples can invite up to 200 people. The Wine Cellar and The Longhouse are lovely spots, along with the Patio. A covered setting with stunning views, it’s ideal for a drinks reception. WE LOVE… There’s on-site accommodation for up to 61 guests with a full English breakfast in the morning, and each booking includes exclusive use of the bridal suite. This family-run business prides itself on caring for its couples and the environment. thurtlepower.com www.ryangooldphotography.co.uk THEMED VENUES 23 
