Your Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 81)

We had spoken about having a Harry Potte r-themed wedding, as we are both huge fans of the books and films. The Tudor Barn Burnham seemed like the best place to have our wedding, as the barn – particularly with the rafters, twinkling lights, and the cosy feel it had − looked exactly right for the Great Hall-look we wanted to portray. The venue’s recommended lighting company, Academy Productions, said they were more than happy to do floating candles for us, which was absolutely fantastic, so we knew we had chosen the perfect venue! We hired long tables and gold tablecloths and napkins from Allenshire, which created a real royal and cosy theme to the wedding. Guests were sorted into either Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin, (the head table was Gryffindor!), by putting the sorting hat on their heads, and pressing their name on a powerpoint presentation where the sorting hat would speak their chosen house! Every guest had a handmade chocolate frog box with a chocolate frog inside, and a name card with their Hogwarts house crest on. Every table was decorated with jars of Bertie Botts Beans, Ferrero Rochers with wings made to look like golden snitches, battery-lit flickering candles, and descriptions of the Hogwarts houses to inform the guests on their particular Hogwarts house. 36
