After their early-afternoon ceremony, Caitlin and Lachie’s guests enjoyed wine, accompanied by cheese and charcuterie boards in the gardens of Merton College. “At the second reception, our guests enjoyed a glass of fizz before dinner in the Divinity School,” they tell us. “The starter was seared scallop with kohlrabi purée, forest mushroom and nori seaweed butter. This was followed by roasted corn-fed chicken with rosti, braised baby gem and a Madeira jus as the main course. For dessert, we chose molten lava cake with vanilla clotted ice cream and petit fours to finish. Our wedding cake consisted of three tasty tiers of Madagascan vanilla with raspberry preserve, spiced carrot with lemon buttercream, and pistachio with raspberry preserve.” Caitlin wore a cream-embossed gown with a plunge V-neck and a dramatic train. “I went dress shopping with my mum, auntie and two cousins (one of whom was my maid of honour) and when they saw the dress, they all became emotional,” Caitlin says. “I didn’t expect to have that feeling of knowing it was the one, but when I tried it on, I knew it was.” Caitlin paired it with a long, simple veil. “I also wore a single-drop pearl necklace and a pearl bracelet that my father gifted to me as a child, and I finished my look with a pair of elegant Ralph Lauren shoes with a low heel,” she tells us. Lachie wore a dark brown herringbone tailored Milano suit with a light brown tie, a custom light brown herringbone waistcoat with mother-of-pearl buttons and a pair of black shoes. The couple’s six groomsmen wore beige three-piece suits teamed with satin ties and pocket squares in moss green, and mahogany-coloured shoes. “Our six bridesmaids wore green satin cowl-back dresses with gold strappy heels and jewellery,” Caitlin tells us. A violinist performed at the second drinks reception, playing a mixture of classical music and pop songs. “Our poems were a great source of entertainment and a conversation starter with our guests,” the couple says. “In the evening we opted for a DJ to get the party started!” “One of our wedding highlights was the generosity of our friends and family, particularly those who contributed to our big day. Lachie’s cousin, Josh Clark (who works for the London Philharmonic Orchestra), wrote a custom song which was performed by the renowned Merton College choir during our ceremony.
