Epsom, Elmbridge, Weybridge and Leatherhead What’s new? BROOKLANDS HOTEL & BSPA REFURBISHES, EXPANDS AND ADDS ADDITIONAL WELLNESS FACILITIES Bspa, a finalist with the Good Spa Guide Awards 2024 located within the four-star Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge has recently enjoyed an extensive refurbishment of facilities and introduced additional ones. A new addition to the award-winning spa is a new Himalayan Salt Room, which promotes healthier skin and aids good sleep and overall wellness. It has a unique microclimate, which promotes respiratory wellness and is flanked by loungers and hanging chairs. The salt-infused air can alleviate allergies, clear sinuses, and improve lung function and sleep, as well as dry skin conditions. Another new standout highlight of the spa is the Tranquillity Meditation Room, which features gentle warming waterbeds to restore and relax the body to a resting temperature in a quiet, cocooning environment. Sponsored by the spa’s exclusive treatment supplier brand, the tranquillity aromatic formula promotes a deep sense of wellbeing. This iconic fragrance diffuses a unique and precious scent into the Meditation Room to create a pleasant, relaxing environment. Intense floral notes and the enveloping notes of sweet orange and cedarwood promote an immediate feeling of well-being and relaxation whilst guests sink into a warming waterbed. It’s priced from £34.95 per person for 30 minutes or £60 per couple and includes a pot of twist tea or glass of chilled prosecco. Another addition to BSpa at Brooklands Hotel is the two types of communal sauna; an infra-red and Finnish sauna that offer de-tox benefits and boost metabolism. The temperature is very high, most commonly between 80 and 90ºC and the humidity inside the sauna will vary between 10 and 30%. Water is thrown onto the rocks, which produces a steam called löyly which raises the humidity. Bathers stay in the high heat for five to 30 minutes, then cool off outside the sauna, returning to start the process again and feeling the benefits of these hot and cold cycles. Adjacent to a new, larger communal steam room is an experience shower and an ice fountain. Gently rubbing ice flakes over the body from the ice fountain is the ideal way to cool down and feel invigorated before moving on in the BSpa journey. Now installed are differing water effects such as tropical rain, mist, monsoon and cold waterfall from the experience shower, combined with lighting options to deliver a multi-sensory encounter and maximise health benefits. Existing facilities of BSpa have uniquely been the large hydrotherapy hot tub, fabulously positioned on the hotel balcony, overlooking the Mercedes-Benz World track. Being spacious, it seats up to 12 guests and features deep-tissue massage jets, helping to restore a sense of well-being. Within BSpa, the sun always shines in the sunlight therapy room (the largest in the UK) which uses full spectrum lighting and infrared heat to replicate natural sunlight with reduced level UVA & UVB rays for a safe and enjoyable experience all year round. BSpa offers eleven treatment rooms and boasts a range of face and body treatments by luxury Italian skincare brands and certified B Corp® Comfort Zone. The spa menu offers results-driven, sustainable products and professional treatments such as bespoke facials and rituals curated exclusively for guests. Brooklands Hotel has also extended its award-winning 1907 restaurant, bar and grill by adding the 1907 Glasshouse. This new Glasshouse on the ground floor is a fantastic extension to the award-winning 2 AA Rosette 1907 restaurant, bar and grill (named in recognition of the year the world-famous Brooklands racetrack opened). What’s new? TRAVELODGE LAUNCHES NEW WEDDING SPEECH MENU Travelodge, with hotels in Surrey including in Leatherhead, has just launched a Wedding Speech Menu online offering providing a helping hand for all those asked to say a few words on the big day. To help keep nerves and sweaty palms at bay, the hotel chain has partnered with comedian Rob Madin - who appears regularly as his alter ego Brett Domino on 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown - to write a selection of wedding speeches which can be downloaded from Travelodge’s website, giving wedding party members some light relief when it comes to composing the ultimate wedding speech. Travelodge’s Speech Menu offering will help save the day. With its selection of adaptable, pre-written words to suit all occasions, it will help the bridal party hit the right tone and (hopefully) avoid offending the guests or the happy couple! The three adaptable speeches can be used as the foundation to write personalised words or serve as a form of inspiration if somebody is struggling with where to begin and more importantly where to end! Travelodge provides a brilliant base for guests attending weddings. Whether guests are travelling up the day before or need to rest following the event, they will find comfortable, great-value stays at over 600 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain. Travelodge Master of Ceremonies commented, “It’s that time of year again, where couples get ready to say their ‘I do’s’. Whilst wedding season should be a time of love and cheer, if you’re giving a speech on the big day, it can also be incredibly nerve-wracking. So, as well as offering our guests king-sized comfort and great value accommodation, we’re going one step further this season by helping those tasked with ‘saying a few words’ by launching our Wedding Speech Menu offering - another reason you Better Get a Travelodge.” To find out more, visit wedding-speech-menu and to book a stay in the Leatherheadbased property, visit Leatherhead-hotel THE MANSION, LEATHERHEAD REGISTER OFFICE Leatherhead’s hidden gem, this is one of Surrey’s most popular ceremony venues. The first house was built during the reign of Henry VIII and is thought to have been rebuilt in 1710 by Alexander Akehurst. As well as being a private home, it has been used as a school, a billet for Canadian troops during World War II and by Surrey County Council to house the library and other council services. It became a Leatherhead Register Office in 2000. The large grounds have a terrace and steps leading to lawns and walkways, providing a stunning photographic backdrop. The Ceremony Room that’s furnished in blue, cream and gold, with mahogany woodwork can now allow up to 58 guests plus the couple making it the largest register office ceremony option in Surrey. The conservatory adjoins the State Room. It has a wrought iron kissing seat and provides an opportunity for wet weather photographs. your-wedding/step-2/register-offices/leatherhead 25 LOCAL VENUES

Something blue Shannon and Hollie’s special day was decorated with baby blue and lilac touches Images courtesy of Schmittat Photography Shannon and Hollie met playing football and were initially friends for a while before realising there was something more between them. “We loved each other’s sense of humour and ability to have fun,” they tell us. Hollie proposed during a break in the New Forest, by a small luxury lodge located on the river. “It was all a surprise,” Hollie says. “Shannon thought she was going away with family and not long after arriving, I asked her to marry me. It was a wonderful moment as two swans peacefully swam past.” Shannon and Hollie McArdle-Watson married on the 29th of July 2023 at Wotton House in Dorking. 31 REAL WEDDINGS

The Evelyn Suite looked stunning all set up for our wedding breakfast. Our stylish centrepieces were white hydrangeas displayed in tall vases with floating candles and blue and lilac gems scattered around them. As favours, we donated to charity and gave our guests horseshoe charity pins, a personalised drink name and a personal hand-written letter each. We both felt relaxed and the happiest we had ever felt on our wedding day. The gardens and surroundings at Wotton House which we booked as our venue were unbelievably pretty. Our twin nephews rode down the aisle in a child’s car, surprising all of our guests. We had a live singer called Beth who performed throughout the ceremony and drinks reception. She sounded fantastic and our guests were raving about her voice. We decided to get married outside in the Italian Gardens but we wanted an incredible indoor option in case the weather turned which the venue offered. 32

We had a contemporary acrylic table plan and name holders which looked great. Our table names were after board games and included Jenga, Monopoly, Cluedo, Connect Four, Dominoes and Scrabble. Our flower varieties in the arrangements and bouquets included blue and lilac hydrangeas and pretty Dorchester roses. “Our guests were thanked during the wedding speeches.” - Shannon and Hollie Our guests loved looking at our photo wall! Our sweetie table went down a treat! Our delicious blue marble cake consisted of three layers. One was chocolate-flavoured, one was a Victoria sponge tier and the third was a lemon-flavoured layer with some additional dairy-free cupcakes. I wore an ivory wedding dress by Stella York which Hollie chose because she liked the length of the train, the buttons down the back and the flattering fit around the waist. It was styled with an elegant cathedral-length veil, a silver necklace, a bracelet and a pair of earrings. - Shannon We displayed photographs of our loved ones on a memory table. Our bridesmaids looked amazing in their lilac and baby blue dresses while the groomsmen looked great in their black tuxedos. 33 REAL WEDDINGS
