One day, Kirsty found someone else sitting in her usual chair at the break room table at work. It was Lewis. The next break she beat him to it, so he came to sit in the chair next to her and they started chatting. They bonded over their love of weight training, and the rest is history. Lewis proposed on the Isle of Wight while the couple were on holiday with Kirsty’s two daughters and Lewis’ family. He’d booked an overnight stay at a different hotel just for the two of them, while the girls stayed with Lewis’ parents. Lewis bought Kirsty a dress to wear for their romantic evening meal together, and the two headed off to the lake to take some photos. When she turned back to him after admiring the lakeside views, she found him on one knee and he popped the question. Having visited various venue open days, Kirsty and Lewis discovered that Cockliffe Country House was the only one to give them that gut feeling you get when you know it’s the one. So, they booked it that day. A beautiful, scenic venue, they loved the idea that it would be exclusively theirs and was tucked away in a country park. “It felt private and intimate,” Kirsty explains. The couple turned to Touch of Charm for their venue styling, and the team ran with their light rose pink and light sage green palette. “They did an absolutely incredible job,” Kirsty remembers. Sadly, Kirsty and Lewis told us that they couldn’t really comment on the food as they were too busy being the bride and groom to eat much! “We were mostly functioning on prosecco and beer, but I do know the guests really enjoyed the food,” Kirsty laughs. They were served tempura prawn canapés with sweet chilli sauce, along with mini beef wrap Yorkshire puddings with horseradish and vegetable dumplings. They also received fantastic feedback about the pork belly starter, chicken parma main and passion fruit posset dessert! “The pizza in the evening was a big win too, and we did get to enjoy some of our amazing wedding cake,” Kirsty says. 30
