Others arrive with a folder of screenshots and a feeling. Either way, a bespoke gown is within reach – and it’s worth knowing what the process really involves before you commit. HOW IT WORKS We begin by understanding your style, either through images of dresses (and the details you love about them) or by trying on pieces from our own collections in store. Inna then advises on what will work best technically for your body shape, and matches this to the right fabric – every material has its own strengths and limits. From there she sketches the design from the front and the back. This first drawing is often very close to the finished dress, but it can be refined until you are completely happy. Once agreed, the gown is made to your measurements in your chosen fabric. THE PROS The big one: you end up with your perfect dress. A bespoke commission can be a small twist on an existing design – a different lace, more (or fewer) sequins, an added corset, detachable sleeves or skirt – or an entirely new creation built from a precise vision or a loose set of ideas. Most of our fabrics are sourced in Italy, every size alteration is carried out in-house, and the finished gown is yours alone. THE CONS Honesty matters here. We work from graphic mock-ups rather than toiles, so if you find it hard to visualise a dress from a sketch, matching expectations can be a challenge – clear communication is everything. Design changes after the dress is made are possible, but carry an additional cost depending on complexity and fabric. And the entire process takes time: allow five to seven months on average. Bespoke design starts from £1,800. Our custom-sized collection gowns average £1,400, including all size alterations, with a six-month lead time or a three-month express service at a premium.
