A survey of more than 1,100 UK women found that although 61 per cent received their dream engagement ring, over a third (36 per cent) said compromises were made due to budget constraints. In fact, 38 per cent admitted they would have chosen a different ring if money had been no object when they got engaged. Despite this, emotional attachment to the original ring remains strong. Just one in five women (20 per cent) have upgraded – or considered upgrading – their engagement ring, while 80 per cent have never thought about replacing it. For those who would welcome a new ring, milestone celebrations are the perfect opportunity. Half of those surveyed said a significant wedding anniversary would be the ideal occasion for an engagement ring upgrade, while almost a quarter (24 per cent) felt a vow renewal would be the most meaningful reason. Tobias Kormind, co-founder of 77 Diamonds, says: “Many couples get engaged while balancing careers, buying a home or starting a family, so it’s understandable that budget often influences ring choice. While some women may have chosen differently with a larger budget, the sentimental value of the original ring remains incredibly powerful. For many, it’s a symbol of their journey together, making it truly irreplaceable.” The findings highlight that while tastes and finances may change over time, the love story behind the original ring is what makes it priceless. https://unsplash.com/@sabrinnaringquist LATEST NEWS 7
