The latest news from around both counties COTSWOLDS’ HOTTEST NEWWEDDING VENUE OPENS ITS DOORS Tucked away amidst beautiful private grounds in the heart of the sleepy Cotswold village of Ewen is Water’s Edge, the hottest new wedding and party venue on the Cotswold scene that launched in December 2022 in time for the 2023 celebration season. Purpose-built in the form of a contemporary Cotswold barn, this stunning exclusive-use venue marries modern style with plenty of traditional rustic charm - perfect for couples in search of low-key elegance for their big day. Launched by husband and wife team Steve and Emma Hewer, who have built Water’s Edge within their private grounds, the venue is the next step for the couple who have held summer season marquee weddings on the grounds for the past decade. The couple were passionate about using their event expertise to launch a permanent-structure venue that could enable couples and guests to enjoy the stunning surroundings year-round and so Water’s Edge was born.  THE PARTY SPACE Framing a pretty private courtyard garden, the venue aims to bring the outside in creating a relaxed vibe for guests. Spanning two stories in the form of an L-shaped barn, the main party space encompasses the barn’s entire ground floor, including a stunning dining room complete with a show-stopping open fireplace, a large bar and lounge area and an open theatre-style kitchen, where guests can watch the in-house chef team work their magic. Celebrations will begin in the barn’s bar area, where a stunning handmade panelled bar forms the room’s centrepiece. Farrow and Ball’s paint colour Hague Blue frames the walls, whilst sink-in statement sofas offer a comfy spot to relax with a tipple; from locally-sourced Cotswold ales and traditional bubbles to the venue’s delicious signature cocktails. Moving from the bar past an industrial-style open theatre kitchen - where guests can watch the chefs at work - the venue opens up into an elegant panelled dining room accommodating up to 110 guests seated. Effortlessly blending traditional Cotswold barn charm with a sultry, contemporary design palette, Farrow and Ball’s paint shade Stable Green decorates the walls while a large statement Cotswold stone fireplace offers a focal point for the room. Come sundown, the space transforms into a dancefloor complete with a top-of-the-range Martin Audio Speaker System; ideal for DJs and live bands alike.  THE ROOMS Upstairs, three bedrooms including a bridal suite, plus en-suite bathrooms offer couples the chance to extend their celebrations over two nights with their nearest and dearest. The showstopper of the venue is its bridal suite; a stunning, large bedroom complete with a roll-top bath, separate dressing room, contemporary en-suite and super king-size luxury padded bed; perfect for brides looking for a space to share with bridesmaids the night before and for couples to enjoy their wedding night. Two further bedrooms sleep up to five additional guests, with a shared contemporary bathroom complete with bath and shower located between the rooms.  OUTSIDE Large floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors flood each ground floor space with plenty of natural daylight and allow guests to freely access the beautiful courtyard garden space. Decorated with romantic festoon lighting and firepits to keep the al fresco party going well into the evening, this area is framed by Cotswold stone walls and pleached Hornbeam trees to ensure total privacy. The garden path leads down into the rolling grounds, where amidst billowing willow trees and lawns there’s a small private lake and outdoor ceremony structure.  THE FOOD All food at Water’s Edge is freshly prepared in the theatre kitchen by the venue’s carefully curated in-house chef team. Using the very best in locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, menus are designed around the couple and range from delicious sharing platters and flame-grilled feasts, to opulent feasting menus. Come nightfall, a ‘Munchies’ menu keeps dancing feet well fuelled, ranging from luxury cheese toasties to tasty stone-baked pizzas and locally-sourced “fancy” hot dogs.  THE LOCATION Water’s Edge in Ewen is just 15 minutes from Cirencester and a stone’s throw from Kemble, which has train links to London. Venue hire costs from £5,900 for two-night exclusive use; food menus from £49 per person and the capacity is 110 guests seated and up to 180 people standing.
