were so excited to see everything come together after three years in the making,” they tell us. “We had legally tied the knot in Norway in 2020 during the pandemic but we wanted to enjoy a ceremony with our loved ones in the UK. It was held in a magical spot in the treecovered grove in the grounds of Drakestone House.” The couple had guests travelling from far to celebrate with them including many from Norway and they wanted to reflect this in their marquee reception. “Our theme was the coming together of these two cultures and we wanted to make it personal for everyone to show just how much they all meant to us,” Emma and Adrian tell us. “We chose a table plan featuring the Norse Tree of Life, called the Yggdrasil, and we named our tables after Norse gods and goddesses, with the goddess of love, Freya (and our daughter’s name) as the top table.” Their place names doubled up as favours featuring mini polaroid photographs of each guest. Emma loves flowers so it was important for her to have locally grown varieties that were in season. “Our centrepieces were posies presented in glass jars,” she tells us. “We also had a floral archway placed behind the top table that looked beautiful and, as a nod to Adrian’s brewing hobby, we had hops, the flower of a plant called Humulus lupulus, suspended from the ceiling in the marquee.” The team at the marquee hire company and the couple’s chosen florist provided them with props to display. “We had milk churns brimming with flowers, a card box and a cake stand to achieve the relaxed country feel we were after,” Emma says.
