Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding - February/March 2023 (Issue 37)

A story to tell These wedding venues are all steeped in history The Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK were recently unveiled. The much-anticipated list is curated, and voted, on by leading industry experts, hoteliers, travel writers and influencers. Chris Lowe, group director of hospitality and manufacturing at William Reed says “We’re delighted to be revealing this fantastic new list. Our number one has jumped up 18 places from last year and the highest new entry is number 5 which is a testament to those teams’ stellar efforts. With staycations continuing to be a focus for Britons, it is encouraging to see such a strong regional presence this year and such a wide range of unique hotel experiences to enjoy.” The Boutique Hotel list follows on from the success of the Top 50 Cocktail Bars, as well as the long-running and ever-popular Top 50 Gastropubs. Now, consumers have a complete and definitive guide to where to eat, drink, and sleep throughout the UK. At number nine on the list is Thyme, a countryside hotel located in Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds which is the ideal retreat for a mini-moon in the region. There’s always something happening at this family-run property, from cookery classes and floristry workshops (perfect for hen gatherings) to wellness Wednesdays (www.thyme.co.uk). Wild Thyme & Honey, also located in Gloucestershire, was number 25 on the list. It’s a boutique country inn situated in the heart of the Cotswolds with 24 sophisticated bedrooms and suites including No.3 London Road, the property’s honeymoon offering. There are three beautiful event spaces for weddings that include the Wild Thyme & Honey Event Suite, The Secret Garden Room and The Courtyard (www.wildthymeandhoney.co.uk). Luxury hotel Calcot & Spa was listed as number 32 on The Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK which can be hired exclusively for wedding celebrations (www.calcot.co/celebrate/exclusive-use) and Dormy House Hotel, located on the edge of Gloucestershire bordering Worcestershire, was at number 42 (www.dormyhouse.co.uk).
