Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding - June/July 2022 (Issue 33)

One of our favourite moments from the day was when the dessert was served because the roaming trio Acoustik, who had performed earlier, returned to entertain our guests in a surprise that only Matt and I knew about! We had given them a table plan and highlighted the names of guests who we thought would be keen to participate…and they didn’t disappoint! The singer, Chloe, duetted with some of our friends and the trio roamed the tables encouraging everyone to stop what they were eating and dance! It was the highlight of the day for us both to see everyone having so much fun. Our best man Dan arranged video messages from Matt’s sister and family and some other friends of ours in Australia who couldn’t be with us on the day. There were tears – but it was wonderful that they could play a part. Sadly, our original caterer went into administration a few months before the wedding but we ended up getting exactly what we wanted from Paisley Flour who matched the original menu idea and their presentation complemented our theme and the venue beautifully. So many guests commented on the amazing food - especially the slow-cooked beef brisket with pasta. We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, we added a northern twist by having two layers of pork pies - a nod to my home town of Wigan! We still did the traditional cutting of the cake but it was into a layer of pork pie! We also had a sweetie ladder that everyone loved. Our tables were draped in pink linen and our centrepieces continued the roses theme with vases a nd bottles filled with flowers to match the bridal party bouquets that were placed on wooden log slices. We also had gin bottles that our loved ones took great pleasure in collecting for us during the lockdown a nd champagne bottles from when we became engaged filled with fairylights. We had a custom menu devised by the caterers that featured Italian sharing plates including cured meats, salads, pasta and risotto because we had considered getting married in Italy originally. The canapés included ingredients from Lancashire and Yorkshire! “Our wedding coordinator, Anna worked tirelessly right until the end making sure all the details on the day were perfect. Andrew, the owner of Norton Grounds, cooked us breakfast each morning and ensured the grass was cut to precision in the hours leading up to our guests arriving.” - Gemma and Matt 32
