Your East Midlands Wedding - June./July 2022 (Issue 50)

Tom and Meg first met through mutual friends and kept bumping into each other – it really was fate. After talking more often, the pair discovered a spark and from there, slowly fell in love. Originally, Tom planned to propose on holiday in Madeira. However, the flight was cancelled last minute due to bad weather and the lovebirds ending up booking Center Parcs last minute. Here Tom plucked up the courage and popped the question in their cabin. SETTING THE SCENE The date was set for December 4th 2021, and the lovebirds wanted to create a memorable day for their loved ones to enjoy. Meg says, “We wanted everyone to have a great time, especially after being in and out of lockdown for the previous 18 months due to Covid-19. We also wanted to ensure that our guests felt safe and made some amendments to our day to ensure even people who were classed as vulnerable could attend.” When it came to finding the perfect backdrop to their day, the couple fell in love with the spaces at Crockwell Farm. The property fitted into their vision and the scenery was a big selling point. The bride stayed onsite the night before the wedding with her mum and maid-of-honour. Fuschia Pinks create stunning arrangements for the day, the company did an amazing job and turned the couple’s vision into a reality. The bride says, “Jo pretty much had free rein of our venue with just our navy and blush colour theme in mind and made the spaces even more beautiful.” Each setting had place names designed with blue flowers to help guests find their seats. Waiting for each person was a blue bag filled with different assorted chocolates. For that extra personal touch, the couple added clay love hearts engraved with T & M. As the venue was already stunning and full of character, the couple only needed to add a few personal touches. They had a red post box for cards and a MR and MRS light up sign that was placed on the edge of the dancefloor. Homemade by Victoria created a beautiful three-tiered cake for the couple with vanilla, caramel and lemon curd flavours – it was a big hit with guests. Meg comments, “Victoria used plain white icing and our florist decorated the bake with fresh flowers that matched the rest of the venue styling – the cake really was delicious!” LOOKING THE PART When it came to creating her dream look, the bride-to-me visited Gabriella Bridal. Meg says, “The team ensured that I got the dress of my dreams; although there were some tears and a little stress before our big day, I could not have asked for a more beautiful dress.” She continues, “I completely fell in love with my final look – it was the prettiest I’d ever felt. Tom and his groomsmen all wore three-piece suits from Warwicks, and they all wore blush ties and pocket squares. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in navy dresses and personalised blush shawls gifted by the bride. TIME TO CELEBRATE Live music after the ceremony was provided by Joe Church, and he completed a 90-minute set after the ceremony straight through to the wedding breakfast. Guests loved the acoustic set, and the pair got so many compliments about the performer – the children loved him too. In the evening, Joe performed in a band called WHITEROOM and they played two sets. Meg says, “We’d highly recommend the company; REAL WEDDINGS 25
