Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - May/June 2022 (Issue 37)

We had waited an extra year because of the pandemic so there was plenty of laughter and some tears. We were both so happy to be married that we didn’t even notice the registrar announcing us to everyone using the wrong name – we just smiled and cheered! Everyone who works at Upton Barn is so lovely, welcoming, and helpful. My dad surprised us with the wedding car tied with burgundy ribbons. Upton Barn & Walled Garden was the only venu e that we viewed and we knew instantly that it was the one. We loved how modern and light it was whilst still being cosy. The space in The Cider Ba rn is so beautiful that we didn’t need lots of decoration. The venue flows nicely, we liked the fact that we could have everything in one place but still have a range of areas for the activities on the day. “Harriet, our wedding coordinator at Upton Barn, could see that the bridal party were all nervously waiting outside the ceremony room doors so quickly ordered us a shot at the bar to have before walking in – now that’s going above and beyond!” We chose trestle tables with a top table under the h anging beam inside The Cider Barn. The place names were made with gold ink on burgundy cards to tie in with our theme. 38
