romance RU S T I C Samantha and Clive’s wedding at Humber Barn enjoyed a romantic rustic theme with some modern touches Images courtesy of Eyecandy Photography Samantha and Clive had been friends for a few years before they became a couple. “We had spent many evenings out together and I was attracted to Clive because he was intellectual, had good values, held a respectful job, was kind-hearted and loved life,” Samantha tells us. Clive adds, “I always thought that Samantha is beautiful and has a kind heart and always see the best in people.” The couple became engaged at home during a surprise proposal. “Clive asked me to marry him after his eldest daughter’s wedding in August 2019,” Samantha says. “He didn’t get down on one knee because he thought he wouldn’t be able to get back up (that’s his excuse, anyway!) Instead, he leaned over the dining room chair and produced a beautiful diamond solitaire ring which was a wonderful surprise.” Samantha Louise French and Clive Geoffrey Nicholls married on 5th July 2021 at Saint Martin’s Church, Barton, Torquay followed by a reception at Humber Barn in Bishopsteignton, Devon. 31 REAL WEDDING
