Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - January/February 2024 (Issue 73)

We had a DJ, saxophonist and a beats drummer in the evening. They played old-school 90s music such as Eternal, N-Trance, Ultrabeat and more. It was great as everyone was up dancing all night, and could even have a go on the drums. Don’t get off the dancefloor! If you’re on there then everyone else is too making a great atmosphere. Our wedding breakfast started with a pressed terrine of ham hock, mustard and parsley with piccalilli, watercress and toasted sourdough bread. The main course was slow cooked brisket of beef with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables cooked in braising liquor and rich gravy. This was all finished with a warm chocolate brownie with honeycomb and vanilla ice cream. Our three-tier big-day bake featured our two dogs Ted and Sasha. The bottom layer was white chocolate and raspberry, the second was chocolate orange, and the third was chocolate fudge. It was delicious! I’m glad we have a video to look back on as I can’t remember some of it. Our first dance song was the Schitt’s Creek version of Simply The Best by Noah Reid. As we were watching the show at the time we got engaged, we just loved this version of Tina Turner’s original. We walked into the wedding reception with guests swirling napkins with our favourite song playing: Don Omar by Danza Kuduro ft. Lucenzo. Dave’s mum danced in with my parents first and then we went around the tables. It was a great moment and gave everyone a lift ready for the speeches. I designed our place names in pastel colours and script font taking inspiration from our invitations. Dave did all the hard work though, cutting grooves into the prosecco corks all from bottles I’d drank since I was 30. 40
