Yes, it’s that magical time of the year once again when winter is upon us bringing with it the fun and festivities of Christmas followed by a new year which is a great time to begin any resolutions. I don’t know about you but 2023 passed by quickly for me, and luckily it has been a wonderful one. I’m very blessed to be a proud auntie to my little nephew, Malachi who was born last Christmas – the best present ever! I’ve also been lucky enough to experience some memorable trips and experiences throughout the summer months including snorkelling in Mauritius; yoga in Turkey; a speedboat trip around the Greek islands and sightseeing in Miami and New Orleans. To celebrate the start of a new year, I’ve compiled a bumper issue for you to enjoy. There’s everything from themed real weddings and styled shoots to magical winter venues, perfect for cosy and atmospheric seasonal weddings. Don’t miss the latest news, offers, fashion, beauty and honeymoon ideas plus my review of a visit to the spa hotel Donnington Valley in the heart of Berkshire - a great place to kick start January! For those of you getting married soon, I wish you many congratulations and for those not taking the plunge until later in 2024, I’ll see you next issue. Happy New Year! CASTLE FINE ART OPENS IN MARLOW September 2023 saw the opening of Castle Fine Art’s new gallery in Market Square, Marlow. The specially curated collection of both original and limited-edition artworks has been selected for the creative town. Managing director Ian Weatherby-Blythe said: “We have been looking for a gallery space in Marlow for some time, as we know that it’s a location where residents have a particular passion for fine art. We have finally found the perfect location for the new gallery and are looking forward to becoming part of the community.” Ian continues, “Castle Fine Art is committed to making art accessible to all whilst uniting our collectors, with exciting modern artists. We pride ourselves on both the quality and service we provide to our clients and new collectors.” The Marlow gallery displays works by Bob Dylan and Billy Connolly; artists only available at Castle Fine Art. The second edition of Johnny Depp’s Friends and Heroes collection, exclusive to Castle Fine Art, will also be available. Marlow gallery manager Leonie Katsarona said: “My team and I are hugely excited about the new gallery, and connecting with a town whose residents are obviously very knowledgeable about art. We look forward to welcoming everyone and to getting to know them and their tastes.” Castle Fine Art Marlow is located at 6 Market Square, Marlow, Bucks, SL7 1DA and they offer a Wedding Gift Guide so that wedding guests can purchase gift vouchers towards a piece of art starting from £25, All the latest from around the regions NEWS Nearlywed INDEPENDENT BERKSHIRE-BASED BREWERY MAKES £10,000 CHARITY DONATION Reading-based Siren Craft Brew has donated £10,000 to Make A Wish Foundation, Launchpad Reading and Lymphoma Action UK - a mix of causes chosen by the Siren team after achieving its Lumina Hour goals. The brewery, known for its adventurous and creative beers, set out to get its Lumina Session IPA pouring in 1,000 venues across the country and at the same time, aimed to trend on X. This campaign celebrated the third anniversary of Lumina, a beer launched in lockdown 2020. It has fast become Siren’s best-selling beer, popular for its juicy hop flavours and aromas of tropical fruits. The beer is gluten-free, further adding to its universal appeal. Darron Anley, founder of Siren Craft Brew said: “It’s a real challenge as a small business right now, whether that’s getting into pubs where the big brewers have tied up all the access and restricted choice for consumers, or online where we see the big social media platforms unwilling to show our followers organic posts. #LuminaHour is an example of what can be achieved when the amazing beer community comes together, raising an incredible amount of money in the process.” Deborah Laing, director of fundraising and communications for Lymphoma Action said: “Everyone at Lymphoma Action is so grateful to Siren Craft Brew for their generous contribution. Thanks to wonderful supporters like the Siren team, our charity can continue providing vital information and services to people affected by lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer in the UK.” Senior fundraising manager at Launchpad Reading, Fiona Keyte, said: “This is an incredibly generous thing for Siren to do and we’re thrilled that they chose Launchpad as one the charities to benefit. In the past year, we’ve helped 1,400 people across Reading who were homeless or at risk of losing their home and demand across our services has gone up by 30% - so support from passionate local businesses like this helps us to continue doing what we do as the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect everyone.” Katrina Shaw, partnerships lead at Make-A-Wish UK said: “We’re grateful to Siren for their help to give critically ill children a chance to have their wishes come true. Every child deserves a childhood and the power of a wish can bring light and joy to children and their families and help create magical memories that last a lifetime.” To shop, visit HIRE HEAVEN MOVES TO A HUB Taniece Simmons, the owner of Hire Heaven has revealed that the Buckinghamshire-based wedding and event florist and venue styling company is moving to a new local hub! Having previously offered small after-dinner bites, the new menu provides guests the chance to finish their meals as delightfully as they start, choosing from a variety of full-size dessert plates to satisfy the sweetest tooth. The new dessert menu promises to elevate the dining experience at every restaurant, making it an ideal destination for special occasions including date nights. The menu has been thoughtfully curated to offer contemporary sweet creations with traditional Japanese flavours, with a range of tempting options that cater to a variety of palates. Sticks’n’Sushi’s Japanese identity shines through desserts such as the Goma, a black sesame custard while the Yuzu dessert celebrates the tart East-Asian citrus fruit with shortcrust pastry, filled with yuzu curd and topped with a yuzu meringue. For those looking for something a little lighter, the plant-based Shabetto sorbet trio offers scoops of sunripe Alfonso mango, blackcurrant with Danish berries from Thy, and a chocolate sorbet made with Avola almonds. Finally, the new Matcha dessert combines a rich dark chocolate fondant with an indulgent molten matcha core, served with vanilla ice cream and topped with a matcha cookie crumble. In addition to the delicious desserts, the brand-new delicious after-dinner menu includes a selection of speciality digestif cocktails, each carefully created to enhance and complement the new dishes. A snowy landscape, Malcolm the sausage dog and plenty of fun and laughter set the seasonal scene for Jade and Matt’s special day Images courtesy of Sky Photography WINTER WONDERLAND Jade Malyon-Williams and Matt Malyon married on 16th December 2022 at Rackleys Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire. Walking in a 32

Jade and Matt met at Oxford Brookes University in 2013. “I worked with Matt’s friend who introduced us and our relationship blossomed from there,” Jade tells us. “Matt proposed to me during a trip to the Cotswolds where we stayed in a place called Piglet Cottage. With the help of our sausage dog, Malcolm, who was dressed in a bow tie printed with the words ‘she said yes’, Matt got down on one knee in front of the fire and asked me to marry him. It was a wonderful, romantic surprise! For the past five years, I had always packed my best clothes and make-up whenever we went away, should a proposal happen, but it never did. The one time I packed my comfortable unflattering clothes, it happened!” SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose the wonderful Rackleys Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire as the venue for their special day. “The stunning high ceilings, beautiful grounds and super-friendly staff first attracted us to the venue,” Jade tells us. “The bridal room was a space that we loved, as well as the cosy seating area upstairs which we thought would provide a great spot for our guests to enjoy playing games in during our winter wedding.” On the big day itself, the snow mixed with the blue skies created a romantic setting for their special day. “Seeing our loved ones enjoy the day that we had been planning for years warmed our hearts,” Jade tells us. “Having our dog, Malcolm wearing a little tuxedo for the pictures was priceless - I loved seeing him running through the snow!” Jade and Matt chose a seasonal colour theme of champagne tones “Our wedding was the best day of our lives. We were both on a high for the entire day and didn’t want it to end!” - Jade and Matt 33 REAL WEDDINGS Classic elegance with a modern twist, picturesque Rackleys is Buckinghamshire’s spectacular wedding venue set in seven acres of grounds surrounded by the beautiful Chiltern Hills.
