I’m not here to turn your wedding into a photoshoot. I’m here to follow you around with a camera while you have one of the best days of your life and make sure none of it gets lost. The glances, the chaos, the bit where someone’s mum cries before you even get to the vows. That’s the stuff. The big moments will happen whether I’m there or not. What I’m actually trying to catch is everything in between. When couples book me, they’re not hiring a photographer so much as inviting someone into their day. I don’t take that lightly. My job is to be the calmest person in the room (easy enough when it’s not my wedding) and let things unfold without anyone feeling like they’re performing. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve for couple portraits (I won’t pretend I’m completely winging it), but nothing ever feels like a school photo. It’s more about giving you something to do so you forget I’m there, and then that’s when the good stuff happens. What you end up with is a set of images that feel like yours. Not posed, not polished into something unrecognisable, just honest, full of life, and exactly how it felt. That’s always been the point for me.
