Nikki and Mark put the great into Gatsby with their themed day and black and gold colour scheme

After meeting in typical fashion, at work, Nikki and Mark Hopgood were together for two years before he popped the question to an unsuspecting Nikki on Valentine's Day, 2015.

The happy pair set the big day for 18-months later, on 28th August, 2016, and envisioned a Great Gatsby-themed celebration at 30 James Street, Liverpool. Here Nikki tells us more about their day...

The whole hotel was beautiful and complemented the theme perfectly.

Glamorously great: Image 2aAs the venue was located in the city, it enabled us to have a walk out on the waterfront – an idea suggested by our photographer, which we loved.

We had huge black feather decorations in the middle of each table for our centrepieces.

Our bouquets comprised black and white roses with lots of foliage.

Glamorously great: Image 6aMike Culleton, our master of ceremonies, was absolutely exceptional and a pleasure to work with. He gave a short speech and entertained the guests with some wedding anecdotes.

Glamorously great: Image 6 In keeping with the colour scheme our bridesmaids wore gold and black knee-length lace dresses.

Mark wore a dapper black velvet jacket, gold waistcoat, with dinner suit trousers and gold and black brogues, which coordinated with the rest of the groomsmen.

Glamorously great: Image 8aWe loved all the strangers that greeted us and gave us their well-wishes. We met an American traveller with his wife and it was their 50th wedding anniversary on the same day; we gladly obliged to his request to having our photograph taken with him – a joyous moment!

Glamorously great: Image 8 We performed a choreographed routine after our first dance to everybody 's surprise.

Mark loved walking around the waterfront and having photographs next to the Beatles statues – he's such a huge Beatles fan.
