Countryside charm

Amy and Ted's big day had a rustic vibe

Edward Marsh proposed to Amy while the couple were in London in November, 2014. “We were there for his birthday weekend, so it was definitely a total surprise!” said Amy. “We celebrated with Prosecco in our room overlooking the Thames, watching a fireworks display from Tower Bridge and popping out for food – it was perfect!” The happy pair set the wedding date for two years later for 10th September, 2016, at The Battleaxes, Wraxall.

Here, Amy tells us more about their day...

I tried on a huge variety of gowns from shops in the local area. I'd almost given up on finding the one until I tried on the Maggie Sottero Briony dress – I fell in love and didn't want to take it off!

Countryside charm: Image 2aThe table centrepieces were jam jars filled with flowers.

Countryside charm: Image 2 One of Ted's friends made us our own wedding beer from his own Cosmic Brewery. He even designed personalised labels with our names on. Our guests loved them!

Countryside charm: Image 4aThe place settings were rustic hearts hanging from the beer bottle favours – simple but effective!

Countryside charm: Image 4 We also had a cake of cheese served before our wedding breakfast. It helped to get everyone talking and went well with the Pimms reception drinks.

It was a real challenge to find a dress that suited my three, really different, bridesmaids. They were very patient and open to options, we opted for grey as it was a style and colour that suited them all. They were pleased that they were comfortable to wear all day after being slightly altered in length to suit each of them.

Countryside charm: Image 6aTed chose his own suit after much deliberation on style and colour. He wore a full three-piece suit and purple tie with flower detail. The groomsmen wore a matching two-piece style, we were really pleased with the final look.

Countryside charm: Image 6 Keeping it local we used Country Garden Florist in Weston-Super- Mare. They listened to exactly what we wanted and we were so pleased with the result.

Our evening band was recommended by friends and they were extremely professional – the performance was outstanding. One of our guests even joined them for a solo!

Countryside charm: Image 8aI was really calm until I walked down the aisle and saw Ted, then all the nerves and emotion hit at once and I struggled to hold back the tears! Ted was nervous while waiting for me Jodie, our photographer, captured this brilliantly.

Countryside charm: Image 8 The speeches were really special and included reference to all the people and events in our lives so far.
