Fairytale romance

Claire and Jake epitomised chic and sophisticated at their Farnham Castle nuptials.

Jake proposed to Claire after two years together while they were in New York. “It was New Year's Eve and Jake had planned to pop the question while we were having a helicopter ride around the city; however, I fell ill so in the end he asked me to marry him while I was in bed,” recalls Claire. “Which was actually perfect as it was so us.”

The happy couple set the big date for 9th July, 2016, with Farnham Castle providing the backdrop. Their ivory colour scheme encapsulated the romance-luxe look they were hoping for.

Here, Claire tells us more about their day...

Fairytale romance: Image 1
When we went to visit Farnham Castle we both felt it had the wow factor; it was very elegant and typically English.

Fairytale romance: Image 2aMy dress was by Essence of Australia but I customised it by adding a Bardot-style lace top, and long lace sleeves as I wanted a classic look.

Fairytale romance: Image 2 Jake and the groomsmen all wore navy suits, waistcoats and cumberbunds with white shirts and bow ties – I wanted a dinner suit look for the men.

We wanted something sophisticated so opted for all cream and ivory details.

Fairytale romance: Image 4aOn the day we were both a little nervous but both so excited. Stand out parts include walking down the aisle, the speeches and my father-in-law jumping on the band's drum kit.

Fairytale romance: Image 4 Our friends are all the life and soul of the party so we just kept the drinks flowing and knew they'd have a good time. We hired a photo booth, band and DJ for some added entertainment.

My bridesmaids looked gorgeous in oyster-coloured dresses and my maid-of-honour stood out in a slightly different hue.

Everything was above and beyond our expectations, more than I could have dreamed of. We were blown away by the food and band, both were amazing.
