Joanna and Matthew first met when they were teenagers, as Matthew was friends with Joanna's brother. As they grew up they continued to cross paths, meeting and socialising in the same bars. After six years together, Matt popped the question while on a romantic weekend away. “After arranging with the hotel staff to keep me in the spa for as long as possible, I was completely surprised to return to our suite and see it was filled with candles, champagne and a diamond ring!” says Joanna. Here, she tells us more about their Jazz Age-inspired day abundant in nude and peach tones...
Birdcages were a main part of our theme. We included them in our save-the-date cards, invitations and table centrepieces.
We had vintage-style gem and pearl decorations tied to the trees lining the aisle.
Our four-tiered cake was layers of chocolate, sponge and fruit covered in cream icing with handmade edible peach peonies.
My dress was Jenny Packham's Eden. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one.
Matt and the boys wore light grey slim-fit suits along with skinny peach ties to give a modern look that matched our colour scheme.
We wanted a just-picked look for the bouquets and buttonholes to complement our peach and nude colour scheme.
After the ceremony we enjoyed champagne and a selection of canapés in the Orangery's walled garden.
For our honeymoon, we enjoyed sunshine and cocktails by the pool at a five-star resort in Marbella.
