Ringing in the new

Natasha and Ray's New Year wedding was a cosy family-friendly affair.

Natasha and Ray met through friends and were together for 10 years before Ray popped the question. “It was on my birthday which was lovely and a complete shock,” says Natasha. They fell in love with The Elvetham because it offered the perfect backdrop for their cosy candlelit wedding, outdoorsy garden theme and navy blue colour scheme. Read on for Natasha's account of their big day...

Ringing in the new: Image 1aAs I work in the wedding industry, I didn't want a traditional white dress so I chose a shorter Justin Alexander style in an alternative colour to stand out.

Ringing in the new: Image 1 Ray and his best man wore navy suits with tweed waistcoats and flowery ties to complement my dress.

The bridesmaids had Dessy multi-way navy dresses so they could adapt them to suit their individual style.

Ringing in the new: Image 3aI knew my shoes needed to make a statement as they'd be on show, so I went for blue Jimmy Choos.

Ringing in the new: Image 3 I showed my dress to the florist so she could choose the flowers to go with it.

The ceremony was amazing and we had a great registrar who made everyone laugh.

Ringing in the new: Image 5aA friend made our blue cake to go with the colour scheme.

Ringing in the new: Image 5 We went for seasonal flowers arranged to look like they'd just been picked from the garden.

Our florist created the wheelbarrow table plan to go with the garden theme.

Ringing in the new: Image 7aThe centrepieces were tall vases filled with branches and decorated with hanging glass tea light holders.

Ringing in the new: Image 7 My cousins sang while we were signing the register; we loved the songs and it really made it special for us.

For the place settings, we wrote our guests' names on wood slices we made from the branch of a tree.

Instead of a guest book, we had a bench for our guests to sign which now takes pride of place in our garden.
