We're here to help if you're looking for a UK wholesale bridal collection, says UK-based wedding dress designer Kate Fearnley

COVID-19 is having a huge impact on the bridal trade: we've got to face facts. With this in mind now's the time to stop and think of how we can help one another survive. Attire Bridal spoke to Kate Fearnley, a British designer who's just released her first wholesale collection, for her thoughts on what can be done...

"MPs stated earlier in the House of Commons that most wedding dresses may be designed in the UK, but are generally manufactured overseas – and particularly in China. The impact of this is a shortage of dresses to supply the British bridal boutiques, in turn limiting the choice for potential brides looking for a dress.

"This will have a profound effect on small businesses, potentially suffering dramatic losses. When the factories that manufacture close, there's less supply to meet the demand which is leading to delays and stock shortages.

"The rescheduling of London Bridal Fashion Week and White Gallery has a huge knock-on effect. Many of the exhibitors, and indeed the buyers, would have travelled from overseas, so the footfall will have been very much lower than expected.

"On a positive note, we are a British brand that's available to help! I've been designing bespoke dresses for 18 years, and, after winning several national awards, and at the request and demand of stockists, I've designed a wholesale collection. The Wonderland Collection is based on the couture bespoke designs, but accessible as wholesale.

"The collection is available to order, with a fast turnaround, and we welcome any boutiques that may be having stock difficulties. We are happy to help! We have an e-catalogue and a printed brochure that can be ordered from in a selection of bridal shades – just drop us a line or email me for help.

"As a company we pride ourselves that we can offer the best quality and service in difficult and uncertain times, as well as the finest quality fashion forward wedding dresses.

"Remember: in these difficult times we need to support each other and help small businesses survive. Between ourselves and retailers we can ensure all of our potential brides have the perfect dress on their special day."
