Pagie and Jordan met at the Reading Festival when they were teenagers, after chatting online for two years. The two knew they were soul mates the day they met and didn’t leave each other’s sides for the entire festival. However, they also knew that aged 16 and 17 they were too young to make a long-distance relationship work (Paige lived in Manchester and Jordan in Durham) so, they decided to remain best friends. Sadly, they lost contact for a few years, but reconnected when Paige moved to Paris to work and the two flew bi-weekly to each other in Paris and Durham, which is when love blossomed between them. Now adults, they managed to maintain their long-distance love for around six months before deciding to settle together in Manchester and have never looked back. “The universe finally brought us together just when the time was right,” Paige says. Jordan proposed six years into their relationship. The couple went engagement ring shopping together in the summer of 2023, before Jordan put it away for a rainy day! It turned out to be a very sunny day though when he proposed in their swim-up suite in their favourite hotel in Majorca a month later. The duo love the historical Gothic style and Paige is a huge Disney fan, so they wanted their wedding to look like a real-life fairytale. They knew Allerton Castle was the place for them right away, especially with it being the halfway point between their families in Manchester and Durham. “It’s like it was made for us,” Paige shares. They were also completely sold by the grand staircase, perfect for the bride’s royal princess entrance, allowing her to reenact the Cinderella ballroom scene of her dreams for the first dance. So, with the date set for 29th August 2024, the couple set about planning their own fairytale. Join us as we hear more about the magical big day from the bride herself... SETTING THE SCENE Styled in a royal fairytale theme, the reception layout was kept simple. The bride and groom sat with both sets of parents at the top table with guests seated with those they either knew or shared interests with. It was a beautifully intimate affair shared with 40 nearest and dearest. Since the wedding breakfast room at the Castle was already magnificent the couple decided to keep the centrepieces simple. They included one Chinese lantern, inspired by Disney’s Tangled, Paige’s favourite, surrounded by floating candles and gypsophila. The staircase was also lined with Chinese lanterns and the couple created their own wedding newspaper containing information about the day with a little note from the bride and groom. These were laid on each seat prior to the ceremony for guests to read while they waited. Paige made shortbread biscuits with white icing stamped with their initials and wedding date. “We wanted edible favours as we didn’t want anything to go to waste and we both love a sweet treat,” she explains. They went down a storm and some guests even ate theirs before the starter had arrived! The couple didn’t envision a traditional tiered wedding cake for themselves, so they opted for a vintage Lambeth cake. The red velvet and buttercream were chosen as a subtle nod to Jordan’s favourite football team – Sunderland FC. “Best day ever,” a quote from Tangled was iced on the top, another homage to Paige’s favourite Disney princess. The big-day bake was surrounded by lemon curd flavoured cupcakes, a favourite of the couple. The catering team provided delicious canapés and three-course wedding breakfast, while the couple added a handmade crisp wall, pic ‘n’ mix table and doughnut stands. All essentials given their love of snacks and sweet treats! LOOKING THE PART In recognition of her royal princess theme, Paige set out to find a timeless, elegant ballgown silhouette and fell in love with Senda by Pronovias. The one-shoulder, corset gown with dramatic train was paired with a long veil and three-quarter length gloves embellished with pearls. Pagie’s something blue was hidden within the fabric of the dress – a blue Swarovski Mickey Mouse tucked just under the shoulder. “I felt like real life royalty,” Paige remembers. Jordan wanted a classic navy suit with champagne touches as a nod to their colour palette. This vision was REAL WEDDINGS 25
