Your Yorkshire Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 44)

All the latest from around the region Nearlywed NEWS LOVE IS SWEET Like so many of us, 2020 has been a turbulent year for award-winning cake designer Grace Eva Cakes. It started with excitement as Grace planned to open her first premises in the Georgian Quarter in Beverley, but the pandemic soon hit. Not only has she been on-call to reassure her lovely couples whose weddings have been postponed (and provide them with a complimentary biscuit box!) but she has also had to postpone her own wedding, which was due to take place in May. “I’m now excited to meet couples in the shop for consultations,” Grace says. “We’ll offer modern wedding cakes, bespoke celebration cakes, biscuit boxes and cupcakes. My style focuses on contemporary design, elegance and personality, incorporating tall tiers, clean lines and delicate sugar art.” What advice does Grace have for other couples who have had to postpone their wedding? “Try to enjoy your would-have- been special day,” she says. “We asked our guests to take a photo of themselves raising a toast that we put in an album. On the day, we celebrated with lots of fizz, and we even attempted making our wedding meal! What’s a year when you have the rest of your lives together?” For more information, visit www.graceevacakes.co.uk THE GREAT OUTDOORS We’re super-excited to tell you about a pop-up yurt wedding venue based at Almscliffe Valley (www.almscliffevalley.co.uk) wi th Yorkshire Yurts throughout September 2021.
