The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa at Bolton Abbey combines panoramic beauty with style and traditional elegance. This landmark venue is enveloped by pretty English gardens full of abundant plants and flowers, as well as an Italianate-style knot garden. The venue itself is a handsome Georgian property crafted from Yorkshire stone. Once a coaching inn owned by several dukes of Devonshire, it’s been sympathetically extended. Inside it has a homely yet classic feel, with fine art, period features and contemporary design. The bedroom suites boast hand-carved four-posted beds and the hotel even has two heli pads for those who wish to arrive in style. Time to celebrate! Ceremonies take place in a range of locations for 12 to 90 guests. The wood-panelled Cavendish Room (90 guests) boasts decorative sconces and mirror panels, while the atmospheric Clifford Room (30 guests) is ideal for cosy celebrations with its dark blue palette. Smaller parties should consider the Hartington Room (20 guests) or the Barden Room (10 guests). Receptions can be held for up to 130 loved ones. Couples will receive a complimentary tasting to help them decide on their big-day menu. We love… The tranquil Devonshire Spa is housed in an ancient barn adjacent to the hotel and features a swimming pool, treatment rooms, steam room, sauna, rasul temple and relaxation space. Middlethorpe Hall & Spa 01904 641 241 | middlethorpe.com What can you expect? The romantic scented rose garden is a wonderful spot for couple’s portraits and the manicured lawn is ideal for a marquee reception when the venue is book exclusively. The magnificent red-brick building has been restored to its former glory with exacting attention to detail. For the past eleven years, it’s been owned by the National Trust and all profits go to the charity. Beautiful Georgian art decorates the walls and gives a homely ambience. Time to celebrate!
