Running from October to the beginning of December, it will showcase eclectic ranges from British jewellers such as Alex Monroe, Mike Gell and Rebecca Lewis as well as local designers including Robert Feather, Adele Taylor, Mark Veevers and others. The store has stocked Alex Monroe’s work for many years and will use the event to exhibit some of the designer’s diamond engagement rings. It will also launch its new range, which incorporates naturally coloured, ethical sapphires. Opened by owner Claire Douglas in 1989, Argent is constantly evolving and adapting. Over the years, it has embraced larger brands, but it’s now returning to its roots and focusing on independent and local designers along with a personal-shopper style experience. FEELING RIGHT AT HOME After hosting her own special day there, Holiday at Home director Charlotte Denny decided to launch Brompton Lodge, one of their properties, as a fabulous exclusive-use wedding venue. “My partner and I tied the knot here in 2018,” says Charlotte. “After getting wonderful feedback on what a great location it was, Brompton Lakes has now launched as a picturesque Yorkshire venue, which can host weekend-long weddings.” Couples typically wed at a nearby church or registry office, before travelling to the setting for a lavish marquee or tent reception in one of two pretty settings. There are 21 luxury self-catering lodges on site, which are nestled around two lakes at the heart of the 26-acre site. With 66 bedrooms available, 120 of your nearest and dearest can stay overnight and up to 300 people can join in the celebration. The largest lodge holds 12 people, so it’s ideal for either a bride or groom and their parties. Weddings here are totally bespoke and the venue works with a large number of suppliers who can make your wedding weekend exactly what you want, whether that’s a grand affair or an informal do. If you’re looking for somewhere a little smaller, Holiday at Home also offers weddings at the beautiful Greenbank Barns, Ravensworth.
