Your Yorkshire Wedding - Jan/Feb 2018 (Issue 28)

How long do wedding dresses take from ordering to delivery? “Ordering a wedding dress is such an exciting time but when looking for your perfect gown, you need to factor in that some dresses, especially ones that aren’t made in the UK, will need at least six months to order into the shop/boutique. On top of that you need to allow plenty of time for fittings and choosing your accessories to complement the dress. All in all brides should start looking at least nine months to a year before the date of their wedding to find the perfect dress. I have a selection of leading British bridal designers in the boutique both made in the UK and made elsewhere, to cover all bases. It may sound like a long time but that year absolutely whizzes by!” – Kerensa Dyson Do you have any dresses that have sleeves and are a bit different to typical bridal gowns? “Sleeves have become popular in recent years and most boutiques will have options for you to choose from. In relation to being a bit different, this very much depends on your criteria. We welcome brides who’re looking for something out of the ordinary and so, in our case, the answer is a resounding – yes!” – Claire Neil, Glory Days Are there any hidden costs? “There aren’t any ‘hidden’ costs but you need to be mindful of requests that put extra pressure on. For example, we can turn a dress around in three days but a designer will usually add an extra costs for ‘rush cuts.’” – Sharon Guest Contact our experts Claire Neil, glorydaysvintage.co.uk Kerensa Dyson, bijoubridalboutique.co.uk Louise Perry, louiseperrybridal.co.uk Sally-Anne Hendry, everafterbridalwear.co.uk Sharon Guest, bridesofyork.co.uk 49 BRIDAL BOUTIQUES
