process and were the most important element of the day for her. “I love fresh flowers and dedicated a large part of our budget to them. Lucy MacNicholl and her team were a delight to work with and from the second I stepped into Lucy’s little shop in Harrogate I just knew I was in the right place. A few words from me and she immediately ‘got’ my vision for the day. Working with a professional took so much of the stress away and I knew the team would create a beautiful woodland setting,” she says. Sherrie’s bouquet was made up of garden roses, stocks, scabious, astillbe, astrantia and lisianthus, with an abundance of textured foliage. Her floral crown was a mix of delicate olive leaf with clusters of ivory and blush flowers. THE GREAT OUTDOORS As a couple who are at their best when out walking in the woods, Otley Chevin Country Park Hotel was the perfect spot. “As soon as we walked in it reminded us of Canada. It’s like a log cabin inside which is really cosy, it’s set in woodland and had everything we needed in one place so choosing it was a no-brainer really,” Sherrie explains. The relaxed-vibe of the venue enhanced their theme and Sherrie walked down the aisle via the patio which is perfectly situated next to the lake. Their intimate ceremony saw guests placed in a semi-circle around the couple who tied the knot in front of a roaring open fire before retreating for drinks in the conservatory. The pair’s décor complemented the setting of the venue with wooden confetti on the tables and rustic hessian bunting. Fairylights were added to the trees outside while wooden signs and easels were used for the table plan and welcome board. They named their tables after the places they visited in Canada. FUN AND GAMES Live music was a must for Alex, who decided to hire Leeds band The Jive Doctors. “They were fantastic and the dancefloor was full all night. Originally we weren’t sure if we’d do the traditional first dance as Alex was nervous about it, but we decided on our favourite song You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall & Oates and just went for it. It was a perfect end to an incredible day,” says Sherrie. ♥ 37 REAL WEDDINGS
