T here aren’t many proposals that are as picture-perfect as Sherrie and Alex’s that’s for sure! Imagine a bike ride in the Canadian outdoors, a scenic lake with Elk swimming to the island in the middle, add a beautiful ring and you’re just about there. “We were on a holiday visiting Jasper National Park. We’d stopped beside a wooded clearing for a rest and it was just beautiful. The sun came out and I thought that Al was rummaging for his camera to get a shot of the Elk but when I turned around he was on his knees with a ring,” says Sherrie. The pair had met through Tinder a year earlier and soon realised that they only lived a mile apart, and that Alex had formerly worked with Sherrie’s twin sister at a call centre! Their big day took just over a year to organise and here we find out more about creating an idyllic woodland wedding... BRIDESMAID BUMPS As a self-confessed jeans and Converse kind of girl, Sherrie was keen to ensure her dress was comfortable and allowed her to dance the night away. “It just felt so light-weight and whimsical and I knew it would fit well with our theme. The team at the Harrogate Wedding Lounge where I bought it were fantastic and went above and beyond to help me. I wanted to wear my sister’s veil as my something borrowed but it was a two-tier veil, which meant you couldn’t see the detail of my dress at the back,” she says. Sherrie’s four bridesmaids chose their own dresses and as three of them were pregnant at the time their comfort was the biggest concern, “My sister was due to give birth the day after the wedding. She found her dress first and showed it to the other girls who loved it too so they decided to get the same but in different colours and with different necklines. I remember thinking during the ceremony how pretty they all looked with their sequins sparkling in the candlelight!” Alex opted for a three-piece Ted Baker suit with a gold tie and waistcoat.
