It was wonderful to have this level of inclusion and also feel that the values of those dearest to us were being bound into our new lives as man and wife. Sacred Honouring Handfastings completed the ceremony with a toast of mead and a hearty huzzah! Scott had spent a lot of time working on his speech but somehow managed to misplace it while getting ready, so he had to wing it on the day. As much as he was panicking, he still managed to thank everyone, including our amazing suppliers and bring tears to my eyes with his beautiful words. One thing we both remember from the day is how much we laughed. Especially as I attempted to walk down the aisle! While I had remembered to test out my heels on the terrain the day before, I hadn’t given due consideration to the length of my dress and veil. I had to be rescued three times by a swift bridesmaid and my helpful father when I got stuck to trees and ended up dragging a very large branch several yards in my determination to make it to the end of the aisle before the music ended. We ended our day as we had planned; sat around a fire, chatting with the ones we love, hot chocolate in hand and married. 30
