Your West Midlands Wedding- April/May 2020 (Issue 67)

55 LOCAL INSPIRATION “K inlet Hall was once known as Moffats School, a boarding school in the small village of Kinlet, Worcestershire. Recently it has reopened as a wedding venue, so I was excited to organise a styled shoot there,” shares shoot coordinator Katie Whitborne of Still Light Photography. “Working with Clemmie the venue’s owner, and a fantastic group of local suppliers, I wanted to create images that showed off the key features of the venue the detail in the architecture, the beautiful grounds, the antique furniture and features. “After speaking with Clemmie and Claire (the florist) we decided to go with a bold and vibrant colour theme, incorporating autumn colours but avoiding it becoming too heavy as the venue features a lot of dark wood and heavy antique furniture so we needed a balance. One of the main floral features was Claire’s beautiful real flower archway which was used in various rooms for couple portraits and for room dressing. “The dress and suit were borrowed from the award-winning The Dressing Rooms, with the dress being a simple feminine style that really stands out against the dark rooms and complements the autumnal theme nicely, having leaf detailing on the lace bodice, while the lower part of the dress falls simply and elegantly. “For the model portraits I wanted to create a mix of indoor and outdoor images, using very contrasting light indoors to enhance the feel of the venue and bring out the colours of the flowers. We set up a number of shots including a couple of angles in the venue’s entrance hall using a beautiful flowers arch from Claire and also the venue’s fireplaces. “In the grounds of the venue there are the most stunning views both at the front and the rear, however I favoured the front of the building for the majority of the photographs due to better light and framing. We were lucky enough to have a rainbow appear halfway through the afternoon where we got some lovely images using giant balloons from Something Party. I wanted to embrace the autumnal theme outside so we chose to shoot some images near a tree with beautiful deep red leaves to bring out the colours in the bouquet and contrast with the dress.” Autumnal Loveliness Burgundy, red, yellow and gold was the colour scheme of the day Images courtesy of Still Light Photography 
