80 whiteapplebyabiboyle.co.uk IT’SALLABOUTTHEBASE Q My partner and I are unsure of the cake size needed for the number of guests; we want a showstopping wedding cake but also something that wont break the bank – help, what do you suggest?  A Trying to decide on the number of guests to cater for will depend a great deal on what other food you are including during your wedding celebrations and it’s worthwhile taking into account whether you want to share it with the day guests only or include all the evening guests too.  Not everyone will eat cake at your wedding so there’s not always a need to buy cake for everyone. Talk through your wedding day plans with your cake designer and they will advise you on what size would be best for your wedding celebrations. A popular request for 2020 is including fake tiers or perspex tiers in the cake design. These are a fabulous way of adding height and with the perspex (or clear separators) they are brilliant for adding the element of elegance to the cake without having to buy more cake than you really need. Caroline Bailey | Hunkington House Kitchen | hunkingtonhousekitchen.co.uk High brow Q I read that eyebrows are quite key to ‘shaping the face’ how do you know which shape works best, and can my make-up artist help? A Our brows have the ability to bring out the most of our features, give our face proportion and frame our eyes beautifully; so it’s no shock that there are so many brow treatments available, including tinting, threading, micro blading and more recently, brow laminating. The size of your brow should be in line with the size of your face. If you have a long face you don’t want an arched or high set brow as it will make the face look longer. A straight, flat brow on a square face will accentuate the square shape, so if you add in an arch to lift the brow, the face will look softer. Having a round brow on a round face will accentuate that shape, so a brow with an arch will give it more of oval look. Your make-up artist will be able to measure your brows and work with you to get the correct shape, length and look you require for your big day. A Definitely! Barn venues can certainly be considered for weddings whatever time of year. When viewing potential venues ensure you check the barn is highly insulated, has double glazing and has underfloor heating – like we do here at Camlad Barns making it nice and toasty! Alex Leeke | Camlad Barns | camladbarns.co.uk SIZE DOES DOESN’T MATTER Q I love Fiat 500s and have always known it would be the perfect car for our summer wedding; however, I haven’t chosen my wedding dress yet do I need to be wary of space inside for my dress and the wedding party? A The size of the classic Fiat 500 is a question we get asked a lot, but the good thing about the car is that the front passenger seat can be removed so there is more leg room and space for a wedding dress. We’ve provide the car for more than 70 weddings and never had a problem with wedding dresses or getting bridesmaids and guests in the cars. Olivia Gauch | Fiat 500 Hire | fiat500hire.com sharoncooper.co.uk TO VEIL OR NOT TO VEIL? Q I’ve opted for a simple wedding gown design but thought I could have a bit of wow-factor with my veil. What could do you suggest? A If you’re wanting to spruce up your veil embroidery is always a great place to start. Whether you want something little and delicate like a simple monogram or something a little bolder like trailing flowers and pet portraits (yes it’s a very popular request) then a touch of embroidery could be perfect for you! If you want to go super bold, there are so many fully embroidered veil designs available, why not take the opportunity to be covered head to toe in gorgeous beading adding an extra bit of sparkle to your wedding outfit?
